About Tenolysis

Tenolysis is surgery to remove adhesions from a tendon. This condition is most common in the wrists and hands. Adhesions occur when scar tissue forms and binds tendons to tissue. An incision will be made and the tissue will be cut to release the tendon. It will then be closed with stitches. The length of the surgery depends on the affected tendon and the severity of the condition. There is likely to be some pain and swelling in the first 1-2 weeks, you will be given medication to manage this. While the incision heals, which is about 3 weeks, you will need to limit your physical activity.
