Reconstruction Post Mastectomy
Reconstruction After Mastectomy
Breast reconstruction is a surgery performed to restore the look and shape of one or both breasts after a lumpectomy or mastectomy. After breast cancer treatment breast reconstruction is a vital component to restoring a women’s self-confidence and emotional recovery. The need for breast reconstruction depends on what has been removed as part of the cancer treatment. While a small lumpectomy may not require a reconstruction, a full mastectomy where skin, tissue, nipple and areola are removed, would require significant reconstruction.
