About Fat Transfer & Nano-Fat Transfer
‘Fat transfer’ is the process by which fat is aspirated from one part of the body and transferred to another. The fat that has been aspirated is normally washed and prepared in such a way as to yield pure fat free of blood and other blood components. It is then injected using a fine bore cannula into the desired area.
Common applications of this powerful technique are to smooth the transition between the lower eyelid and the cheek in order to rejuvenate the mid-face, add volume to areas of the body that have been previously injured or operated on, or to aesthetically enhance the cleavage area of the breast (custom cleavage).
It can also be used to improve the quality of scars or the skin itself, as the transferred fat has a high concentration of adipose derived stem cells or ADSC’s, which are known to have regenerative properties.
Benefits of Nano-Fat Transfer
The term ‘nano-fat’ is used when the harvested fat has been processed in such a way as to make it extremely fine and smooth. It can therefore be injected just below or even into the skin itself, and is an extremely useful technique when applied to rejuvenation of the face.
After the body absorbs a percentage of the fat (between 20 and 50%) the correction can be considered permanent.
